Case of complete gastric rupture complicating resuscitation.

چکیده
The quality of the remission was important because it is related to the eventual outcome. In all 90 patients effective control of the disease was obtained in 810% patients after complete remission, 52% after partial remission, and 13% after no remission (table I). It is therefore probable that the significant difference between the complete remission rates of each treatment group will be lower ultimate survival rates in the group treated with MOP. Confirmation of this point may be provided by re-evaluating the patients in this comparative study later.

BACKGROUND Pneumoperitoneum after cardiopulmonary resuscitation may be due to mediastinal air tracking into the peritoneal cavity via the diaphragmatic hiatus or to gastric perforation. CASE REPORT A 79-year-old woman received Advanced Cardiac Life Support measures in the intensive care unit. Chest compressions and endotracheal intubation were performed; a stable cardiac rhythm and perfusion ...

A compressed air diver suffered pulmonary barotrauma with arterial air embolization; resuscitation was unsuccessful. Attempts at resuscitation included mouth-to-mouth ventilation and cardiac massage. A chest radiograph taken during resuscitation revealed free intraperitoneal air. Postmortem examination showed rupture of the stomach. The two possible aetiological factors--barotrauma of ascent an...

Complications associated with external cardiac compression include trauma to the heart, chest wall, lungs and gastrointestinal viscera, with gastrointestinal visceral injury including, ruptured stomach, liver, oesophagus, spleen and colon. However, the use of thrombolytics and anticoagulants in patients with an acute myocardial infarction increases the incidence of a visceral haemorrhage when t...
متن کاملGastric rupture complicating inadvertent intubation of the esophagus.
Rupture of the stomach complicating resuscitative measures is usually fatal. A 74-year-old man who suffered a myocardial infarction and cardiac arrest had perforation of the stomach when the esophagus was inadvertently intubated, ventilating the stomach. Laparotomy was performed and the gastric perforation sutured. In spite of the extensive trauma, the patient, incredibly, recovered. Although v...
متن کاملCardiac rupture complicating acute myocardial infarction in the direct percutaneous coronary intervention reperfusion era.
BACKGROUND Cardiac rupture, an uncommon yet catastrophic complication after acute myocardial infarction (AMI), has been studied primarily in the prethrombolytic and thrombolytic therapy eras but not in the direct percutaneous coronary intervention (d-PCI) reperfusion therapy era. The aim of this study was to delineate the incidence, potential risks, timing of occurrence, clinical features, and ...
